Midcentury Cocktail Party!

So as promised, today I have some photos from the Midcentury Cocktail Party we threw on New Year's Eve. All of my jello mold dreams came true! My guests rose to the challenge, and not only was everything fun and kitschy but also DEEEE - LICIOUS! A very successful potluck indeed.

Our spread included deviled eggs, green bean casserole, egg rolls, pickle-stuffed hot dogs in BBQ sauce, pigs in a blanket, mini veggie pot pies, donut hole snowmen, pineapple upsidedown cake, lime jello with a ginger/pear/cottage cheese ring, a savory vegan jello mold with pickles and couscous, a cookies n' cream Swiss cake roll, pineapple upsidedown cake jello shots, Blue Hawaiian cocktails and much MUCH more. But see for yourself (photos by Tyler Gorman)!

I put out some of my favorite vintage recipe books for guests to peruse, and they got  few giggles. Most common presentation mistake in the 50's-60's? In my opinion, the blatant phallic quality of a good 70% of the centerpieces. Yikes.
